The Penn State wide receiver position is under the same spotlight that the team's defensive tackles were last season. The perception, correct or not, is that if the team can address this position, the offense can take off, and the Nittany Lions can reach hitherto unachieved heights.  Whether that's true or not, it's essential to understand that the position isn't a monolith. Within the "wide receiver" tag is a more diverse subset of positions that require different skill sets. Today, we'll try to place the team's current roster of receivers into their best position to see what competitions might arise this spring.  There's a delicate balance here, however. Penn State has never had a rigid, exclusive structure of where a player will line up or where they're recruited to play. Skills for different positions overlap, and players can play multiple positions. With that in mind, we're blending where they were last year, plus generalized skill assessments to place them in the best general position.
