Penn State receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith releases statement after entering NCAA transfer portal
Penn State receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith has released a statement about his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The Norfolk, Va., native and senior did so after he was not seen at last Tuesday’s Nittany Lions open practice and also missed the Blue-White game, which he did not even attend last Saturday at Beaver Stadium.
Lambert-Smith posted his statement, his first public comments about his decision to leave Penn State, on Twitter. You can read it in full below:
First And Foremost, I want to thank Penn State for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream of playing college football at the highest level while also being able to earn my agree. To Nittany Nation, you all showed me something I could only dream of experiencing and for that I will always appreciate you. I have showed [loyalty] to the program, the university, and most of all the fans. To the guys (past and present), I couldn’t have asked to be around a better group over these last four years. I’m blessed to know that I have made friendships and connections taht will last a lifetime and for that I’m grateful. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer. Everyone has their own book, this is just the next chapter in mine. #betheonenotoneof.”
The statement assures that ‘KLS’ will not be returning to Penn State even though any player who enters the portal has the option to return if he chooses to do so and the school is OK with it. He finished his Penn State career with 126 receptions for 1,721 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Our well-established network of reporters and contacts across college athletics keeps you up to speed in several ways. We have articles written about players as they enter and exit the transfer portal or find their new destination, a dedicated transfer portal Twitter account, and the On3 Transfer Portal wire.
The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking, and original On3 Consensus recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image, and likeness).
While the transfer portal officially opens for business on Dec. 4 for undergraduate players, grad transfers can enter it at any time. This specific transfer portal window runs through Jan. 2, 2024. It is important to note that a player does not need to make his decision by the deadline. Undergrads do, however, have to declare their intent to enter the portal by then. When they pick their next school or decide to return to their current one after that is up to them. A second transfer portal window will run April 15-30.
