Penn State receiver Malick Meiga enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Penn State is losing another receiver to the NCAA transfer portal. Senior Malick Meiga is entering the mechanism made for college athletes to move from one school to another.
“After a great four years, it’s time for a new chapter,” Meiga wrote on Twitter. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to the amazing fans, teammates, and coaching staff at Penn State University. Your support, camaraderie, and guidance have meant the world to me. I am officially in the transfer portal.”
Meiga, who is from Saint Jerome, Quebec, made his biggest impact over four seasons in State College on special teams. He was a captain in 2023, and caught nine passes for 106 yards and one touchdown during his time with the Nittany Lions. Undoubtedly, he will try to find a new school that will give him the chance to play more at receiver. He was never able to consistently crack the rotation at Penn State, even if there was ample opportunity to do so.
Two receivers have entered the portal since spring practice ended on Saturday. Meiga is joined by senior KeAndre Lambert-Smith in moving on ahead of the 2024 season. Players have until the end of the month to enter.

Our well-established network of reporters and contacts across college athletics keeps you up to speed in several ways. We have articles written about players as they enter and exit the transfer portal or find their new destination, a dedicated transfer portal Twitter account, and the On3 Transfer Portal wire.
The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking, and original On3 Consensus recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image, and likeness).
While the transfer portal officially opens for business on April 16 for undergraduate players, grad transfers can enter it at any time. This specific transfer portal window runs through April 30, 2024. It is important to note that a player does not need to make his decision by the deadline. Undergrads do, however, have to declare their intent to enter the portal by then. When they pick their next school or decide to return to their current one after that is up to them.
