Former Penn State receiver and special teams ace Malick Meiga has picked his transfer destination. The Quebec native exited the portal on Wednesday by committing to Coastal Carolina. The Sun Belt school was the first one to offer back on April 18. Other schools that showed interest include Nevada and Delaware.

“After a great four years, it’s time for a new chapter,” Meiga wrote on social media after entering the portal following spring practice. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to the amazing fans, teammates, and coaching staff at Penn State University. Your support, camaraderie, and guidance have meant the world to me. I am officially in the transfer portal.”

Meiga was respected in the Penn State locker room. He served as a captain during the 2023 season. On the field, his contributions came mostly on special teams. Over four seasons in State College, he caught just nine passes for 106 yards and one touchdown.

Meiga is the second former Penn State receiver to find a new place to play after leaving the Lions once spring practice ended. KeAndre Lambert-Smith was the first. He is now at Auburn. A total of three receivers left head coach James Franklin’s team after drills concluded. Malick McClain, who joined Penn State as a transfer before the 2023 season, is now on the move again. The Lions also lost three other receivers from the roster who had eligibility left after last season. Cristian Driver and Dante Cephas left in the winter transfer portal window and committed to Minnesota and Kansas State, respectively, while Carmelo Taylor left the roster for undisclosed reasons last week.
