Penn State receiver Omari Evans plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal
Another Penn State receiver is entering the NCAA transfer portal. Omari Evans will look to play his final collegiate season at a different school, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The move was expected, as BWI’s Nate Bauer reported its likelihood on Saturday, but is now confirmed. Evans caught 41 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns in 2024. For his career, he totaled 30 catches for 564 yards and seven scores. A deep threat with notable speed, Evans did start some games for the Lions but the Texas native never took a major step forward during his multiple years in State College.
Evans is the third Nittany Lion receiver to hit the portal since the 2024 season ended in a College Football Playoff at the Orange Bowl. Mehki Flowers and Tyler Johnson both preceded him on Monday. Penn State is also adding two receivers from the portal. Former USC pass catcher Kyron Hudson and All-Sun Belt selection Devonte Ross from Troy are both enrolled for the spring semester.
It all means there are two big stay-or-go decisions remaining for the Penn State receivers room in 2024. Liam Clifford and Trey Wallace both have the option to return for another season or move on either to another college or the NFL Draft. As of 3:20 p.m. ET on Tue., Jan. 14, neither has made an announcement.
