Penn State football got more bad news for the class of 2023 yesterday when four-star linebacker Tomarrion Parker decommitted from the program. BWI covered that news yesterday in our breaking news segment on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts. Today, recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins host Thomas Frank Carr to add more context to the situation 24 hours after the news broke. After that, you’ll see the full BWI Daily: Recruiting Show, which was preempted by the Parker news.

Next, Host Greg Pickel and Snyder discuss an official visit set for the fall, the story with Jaxon Smolik, and they finish with an overview of Penn State’s 2023 class.

The Nittany Lions are trying to solve the problem they have at wide receiver this cycle. Right now, only four-star receiver Ejani Shakir is committed to the program and Penn State’s search for his running mate is going slowly. Despite that, they have an interest in receiver Zion Tracy. Snyder explains the situation with Tracy and what happened with his recruitment over the last two seasons. He also explains why Penn State set his official visit date for the time that they did.

Next, the two recruiting experts discuss three-star quarterback Jaxon Smolik. According to Snyder, the rising prospect is garnering interest from some other Power Five programs. How will that affect his relationship with Penn State and his decision to commit to the program? Snyder lays out two potential scenarios for the future.

Finally, Pickel and Snyder review the class and the prospects making decisions this month. Four-star receiver Carmelo Taylor and four-star linebacker Kaveion Keys both will announce their schools this month. Will Penn State land either? Snyder gives his insights into the situation before discussing the class at large.

BWI Daily Audio Exclusive: Purdue offensive preview

Instead of re-airing the BWI Daily audio from yesterday, T-Frank and senior editor Nate Bauer do an exclusive audio discussion about the Purdue offense and what T-Frank has seen on film from Penn State’s first opponent of the 2022 season.

The conversation, hosted by Bauer, centers around quarterback Aidan O’Connel, who broke out in his fifth year with the Boilermakers. T-Frank, Blue White Illustrated’s film analyst, breaks down what he’s seen, good and bad, from O’Connel and how he elevates the Purdue passing attack.

Bauer and T-Frank discuss the offense’s strengths, play-caller Brian Brohm, and what they can do to threaten Penn State. Next, they discuss the best attack plan for the Nittany Lions under new defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.

Finally, they wrap up with how T-Frank thinks the game will play out.
