Penn State recruiting wraps weekend knocking on Top 10 door
Penn State’s climb in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings continued through the weekend. Welcoming one commitment, four-star offensive lineman Caleb Brewer, the Nittany Lions now stand at No. 11 in the updated rankings.
The trajectory for Penn State puts the program just a fraction of a point from cracking the Top 10. The Nittany Lions have risen from No. 19 the final week in March, jumping eight spots thanks to a rash of commitments.
A run that began with the commitment of three-star tight end Luke Reynolds, Penn State soon followed with the pledge of Florida cornerback Jon Mitchell, ranked No. 61 nationally, on April 1. Quinton Martin, ranked No. 44 nationally as a four-star athlete, committed April 7. And, in the past week, the Nittany Lions picked up an April 10 commitment of three-star corner Antoine Belgrave-Shorter, leading into Saturday’s pick-up of Brewer.
The result is a nine-man class with an overall class score of 91.25. The Nittany Lions’ per-recruit score, meanwhile, checks in at 89.48. That number is 14th among all schools nationally.
With the latest verbal commitment, Penn State’s Class of 2024 now features three On3 Industry Ranking four-stars and six three-stars. The industry four-stars includeMartin, Mitchell and Cooper Cousins, the first commitment of the class in January 2022.

The result is then pulled from a baseline number of commitments to use in producing its ranking score. The goal is to present a comprehensive picture of where teams stand relative to their peers each cycle, thereby setting a standard number from which to judge classes.
The number to consider ending the weekend, as programs continue to add commitments for the Class of 2024, is five.
