The On300 didn’t feature many big moves for Penn State’s Class of 2025, and that’s largely true for On3’s Industry Rankings as well. For those unfamiliar with the Industry Rankings, it’s a weighted algorithm that combines all four major recruiting sites – On3, 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN – for a cumulative grade on each player. It’s that ranking, rather than just On3, that we use to determine where each team finishes in a given year.

While 12 of Penn State’s 21 commits either moved up slightly or didn’t change at all in the Industry Rankings, there was one recruit in particular who made the biggest move: safety Braswell Thomas.

His upgrade, which saw the New Jersey native climb more than 200 spots to No. 551 nationally, shouldn’t be a surprise if you’ve been paying attention to Thomas’ rise in recent months. Coming into June, Thomas held an 86 overall rating, making him a mid-range three-star. He was the 60th-ranked safety in the nation, but that outlooked changed quickly following an excellent workout at Penn State back on June 2.

In addition to running a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, Thomas cleared 30 feet in the triple broad jump and went sub-4.4 seconds in the shuttle. At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, that performance is a major reason he’s now part of Penn State’s class.

On Monday, Thomas was upgraded to an 89 overall by On3, which makes him the highest three-star possible and a potential candidate to earn his fourth star during his senior season.

There’s a good chance he continues to rise as well. For example, On3 now has Thomas as the 32nd-ranked safety in the nation. Compare that to 247, which has him as the nation’s 150th-ranked safety. With updated testing information on Thomas, we’d expect his ranking to only rise as sites continue to compare the nation’s best prospects.

Below is where each of Penn State’s committed players now sit in the Industry Rankings.
