Penn State football lost one young safety last week to the transfer portal in Tyler Rudolph. Now, another safety prospect is confirmed to have entered his name in the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Enzo Jennings, a 6-foot-1, 194-pound redshirt freshman, was confirmed by On3 Thursday to have entered the portal. A native of Detroit, Mich., Jennings was a member of Penn State’s Class of 2020. He appeared in just one game for the Nittany Lions, playing in the season-finale against Illinois back in Dec. 2020. He played just six snaps at the end of the game.

Coming out of high school, Jennings was a four-star prospect according to the On3 Consensus. Rivals, 247 and ESPN all have him among the top 200 prospects in the country during his time at Oak Park.

The On3 Consensus ranked him No. 164 overall. He was the 11th-ranked safety and the fourth-ranked player in Michigan that year. He was also an Under Armour All-American.

Jennings’ primary recruiter was former Penn State safeties coach Tim Banks, who left last offseason to become the defensive coordinator at Tennessee.

The Nittany Lions will have to replace at least one of their starting safeties to begin next season, with Jaquan Brisker off to the NFL. Fellow safety Ji’Ayir Brown is one of a few Lions who will have a decision to make regarding his future.

Penn State Portal Pain Rating: 1

Jennings had high expectations coming into Penn State, but there hasn’t been much production from him to this point. First-year safety Jaylen Reed was clearly ahead of Jennings, playing at least 10 snaps or more in Penn State’s final five games of the 2021 season. Another freshman, Zakee Wheatley, appeared to have also passed Jennings on the depth chart.
