Penn State Season Preview: Andy Kotelnicki vs. Jim Knowles Pt. 2
Believe it or not, the Penn State football season is right around the corner. We're just a month out from the start of training camp, and while we're in the throes of recruiting news, there's always time to preview the upcoming season. Today, we're looking at the most interesting coaching battles that will determine the success or failure of the Nittany Lions in 2024. We're starting with the Big 12 rematch between Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. Despite spending a combined seven seasons in the conference, the duo only met once, in 2021. The contest went decidedly in Knowles favor, with Kotelnicki's offense failing to get a first down through halftime and Oklahoma State racking up a 55-3 win in the process. However, it was the year after the COVID 19 pandemic, so things were predicably odd. That season was Kotelnicki's first at Kansas and he wasn't officially hired until May of that year. Still, the game offers some lessons, which you can read in detail on the Blue White Illustrated Message Board. We broke down the meaningful plays in the latest message board watch-along.
