We start with a Class of 2023 signee.
Reading, Pa., Wyomissing offensive lineman, On3 five-star, and Penn State football commit JVen Williams was already his school’s record-holder in the discus. Now, he can add shotput to that list, as well.
Video from Wyomissing football and track and field coach Steve O’Neil shows Williams unleashing a throw of 61-feet, six inches to start the season. According to The Reading Eagle, the previous record at the high school was 58 feet, three inches.
Williams finished third at states last year in the shot put with a throw of 52-3. He now aims to win that gold medal.
Williams’ school discus record stands at 176-2. He will compete for local, district, and state gold in that event, as well, later this spring.

Next, we move on to a new Penn State recruiting offer.
The Lions have joined the race for Hyattsville, Md., DeMatha Catholic offensive tackle Oluwatosin Babalade. Many schools were actively recruiting the On3 Consensus three-star, but his stock has soared following a strong showing at the Under Armour camp in Towson, Md., last month. Boston College, Maryland, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina have all hosted him in March.
Now, Penn State will see if it can get Babalade to visit, as well. Time will tell as the program looks to add to what is already shaping up to be a sizable class, literally and figuratively, in the trenches.
We wrap up this section with footage from a recent Penn State practice. In the video below, quarterback Sean Clifford is mic’d up. Follow along from a pre-practice chat with the camera plus drills during it and more.
