Penn State sends out new transfer portal offers; recapping Junior Day: Newsstand

Penn State had a busy final weekend of January.

The Nittany Lions hosted over 50 prospects during the final contact period day of the month. They also landed a commitment and sent out a new offer to transfer portal prospects.

We start with a new commitment and a recap of Junior Day.

The Lions landed Class of 2024 offensive lineman Cooper Cousins. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound prospect with an On3 NIL valuation of $8,900 picked Penn State over Akron, Kentucky, Pitt and Toledo. The Erie native visited campus over the weekend to seal his pledge. It was the Lions’ second in as many days. Virginia Class of 2023 offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh selected the Lions on Friday.

On the offer front, the Lions sent out a number of them over the weekend.

In regards to high school players, Penn State joined the race for 2023 quarterbacks JJ Kohl and Marcus Stokes. They also offered junior receiver Colton Hood and Baltimore, Md., receiver Ryan Manning.

Then, in the transfer portal, Penn State is now chasing twin defenders from Texas. The Lions offered Gabriel Murphy and Grayson Murphy over the weekend. The young defensive ends were a force for North Texas in 2022 before entering the transfer portal this offseason. Penn State will push, but the duo quickly picked up interest from all over the country and will be able to play just about anywhere.
