Penn State football has set a start time for its annual spring scrimmage. The Blue-White game was previously scheduled for April 13. Now, we know it will start at 2 pm ET at Beaver Stadium. Parking information and other information for fans will be announced at a later date. It’s also not clear if the contest will be televised or streamed.

Head coach James Franklin will preside over his 11th season in State College. He will do so with three new coordinators in place. Andy Kotelnicki is taking over the offense from fired Mike Yurcich. Former Indiana coach Tom Allen will run the defense after Manny Diaz departed for the top job at Duke. And, former Vanderbilt assistant Justin Lustig is taking Stacy Collins role as the special teams coordinator, outside linebackers, and nickel backs coach. He replaces Stacy Collins, of course, who returned to a coordinator role at Boise State.

Penn State will start spring practice in March. The Lions are in the top 10 of many early top 25 polls and the top 15 of all of them. The team returns starters at quarterback, running back, receiver, tight end, two offensive line spots, defensive tackle, linebacker, safety, and punter. It welcomed six transfers and 16 early enrollees to campus back in January. All will be eligible to play the Blue-White game. How the 15th spring practice will be timed and scored is also not yet known.

Tracking Penn State 2024 staff changes to date

Penn State has now hired five new analysts this offseason. In addition to Zach Terrill and Jeff McInerney, it also brought former graduate assistant Mark Dupuis back in an analyst role earlier this month. He spent the last four seasons as the wide receivers coach at Old Dominion. Additionally, the program has added Bill Queisert and Thomas Allen in the analyst department. They came to Penn State with new coordinators Andy Kotelnicki (offense) and Tom Allen (defense), respectively. Analysts who have moved on include Ola Adams (now the defensive backs coach at Indiana), Rick Lyster and Gabe Infante (who took on-field roles with Manny Diaz at Duke), and Calvin Lowry, who is now the running backs coach at Middle Tennessee State.

The Lions also lost Khalil Ahmad from the recruiting department. He took a promotion at Syracuse. Assistant recruiting coordinator for operations and visits Shannon Wellman has moved on, as well. She is replaced by recent Penn State alum Karsyn Kehler. Lions letterman Jordan Lucas slots into Ahamd’s role.

As of Friday, the on-field staff changes for Penn State are at the coordinator spots, with the aforementioned Kotlenicki and Allen replacing Mike Yurcich and Diaz, respectively. And, Stacy Collins is going back to Boise State. But, the Lions have hired Justin Lustig from Vanderbilt to replace him as the team’s special teams coordinator. Otherwise, the rest of Franklin’s 10-man assistant coaching staff is still intact as the offseason begins.
