Penn State signs pair from the Transfer Portal
Penn State has picked up three commitments from the Transfer Portal this offseason, and BWI has confirmed that the second and third have indeed signed with the Nittany Lions. Former Texas A&M defensive end Enai White and former Troy wide receiver Devonte Ross are now listed in the Transfer Portal as signed. Both will join former USC wide receiver Kyron Hudson and will enroll at University Park in January.
Imhotep Charter grad Enai White coming home
A Phildadelphia native, White was able to make an impact during his first season under Jimbo Fisher’s staff at Texas A&M, totaling eight tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in seven games in 2021. He then played in five of the first six games of his sophomore season but ended up suffering a season-ending knee injury in mid-October. Following a coaching change at A&M, new head coach Mike Elko announced at the start of preseason that White was still battling back from his injury.
White played just one snap against Missouri in Week 6 and then eight snaps against New Mexico State in Week 12. One positive from that moving forward is that it did allow White to redshirt this past season, giving him two more seasons of eligibility.
Ross a 1,000-yard receiver at Troy in 2024
Ross caught 76 passes for 1,043 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024 while playing for former Nittany Lions wide receivers coach and current Trojans head coach Gerad Parker and also returned a punt for a touchdown. He hit the portal earlier this month and was in State College Dec. 18 for an official visit.

A Class of 2021 recruit, Ross, who was listed by Troy at 5-foot-11, 161 pounds, initially committed to Marshall but then backed away from that pledge and was set to land at Kentucky out of high school. However, he never arrived on campus in Lexington. He then ended up at Troy in 2022. Over three years with the team, he caught 129 passes for 1,618 yards and 14 touchdowns. He will have two years to play one season at his next school, as he has yet to redshirt. On3 currently ranks him as the No. 157 player in the portal and No. 35 receiver.
Ross also doubles as a punt returner. He took one back 77 yards for a touchdown this season against Iowa. Against the Hawkeyes, Ross also caught five passes for 142 yards and scored twice through the air. He followed that up with a career-high 229-yard, three-touchdown performance against Florida A&M the following week. His 86.9 receiving yards per game rank 14th nationally.
He was a First-Team All-Sun Belt selection as a wide receiver and as an all-purpose player in 2024. He also added second-team honors as a return specialist.
