Penn State tweets of the day

Wednesday is a huge day for the Nittany Lions. Players reported back to campus yesterday. Preseason camp starts today. And, the opener at West Virginia is now exactly one month away. Head coach James Franklin and his staff, which includes three new coordinators, have their first chance to put their players through drills with helmets on since the spring. The program will practice multiple times a week leading up to its trip to Morgantown to start the 2024 slate.

“For us, we’ve got to play our best when our best is needed most, in the biggest games, at the biggest moments. I think, if you look at us specifically last year, did some phenomenal things,” Franklin said at Big Ten Media Days last week. “That’s the step that we need to take, and having a returning starting quarterback obviously helps with that. We’re a quarterback-driven game, whether it’s in the NFL, college, or high school, and having a returning quarterback at that position that did some phenomenal things — I think he was second in touchdown to interception ratio. I think he broke the national record in completions without an interception. So did some phenomenal things. We’ve got to build on that.”

Wednesday is not just a big day for the current team, either. The Lions will be involved in a pair of recruiting announcements throughout the day. Maryland Class of 2025 defensive lineman Yvan Kemajou will make his college choice this afternoon. And, West Virginia Class of 2026 edge Daniel Jennings will do the same this evening. The Lions lead for both on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
