Penn State standouts in Week 12 of NFL season
Miles Sanders and the Philadelphia Eagles dominated on Sunday Night Football, and several other former Penn State football players put up impressive performances on Thanksgiving Day. Let’s dip into the standout Nittany Lions in week 12 of the NFL Season. Some stats provided by PFF.
Former Penn State running back steals the show in primetime
Miles Sanders
Former Penn State running back Miles Sanders saved his best performance of the season for prime time. The physical, bruising back ran all over the Green Bay Packer’s defense to the tune of 143 yards and two touchdowns. He also tied a season-high with three receptions in the 40-33 win. Sanders sits 92 yards behind former teammate Saquon Barkley for fifth in the NFL rushing leader race with 900 yards.
Chris Godwin
Each week former Penn State receiver Chris Godwin looks more like himself for the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. Godwin had a season-best 110 yards on 12 catches for the Bucs, who fell to the Cleveland Browns 23-17 in overtime. While Godwin is getting back into shape, the Bucs’ season is falling apart at 5-6. The saving grace is that the NFC South is terrible, and Tampa Bay leads the division with that record.
Parsons stars on Thanksgiving Day
Micah Parsons
While it feels like Thanksgiving day was weeks ago, Micah Parsons’ efforts from turkey day are still part of this week’s rundown. The former Penn State defender notched two sacks in the Cowboy’s 28-20 win over its division rival, the New York Giants. Those two sacks helped Parsons keep pace in the NFL sack leaderboard race. He sits one behind New England Patriot edge rusher Matthew Judon for first.

DaQuan Jones
Like Parsons, former Nittany Lion DaQuan Jones put in good work on Thanksgiving while you were sitting down to eat. The former nose tackle grabbed a sack, and a quarterback hit on Lion’s passer Jared Goff in the Buffalo Bills’ 28-25 win over the Lions.
Carl Nassib
Former Penn State pass rusher and Ted Hendricks award winner Carl Nassib got his first start of the season for the Bucs on Sunday and rewarded his team with a quality outing. The rotational lineman for Tampa registered a sack and two tackles in the loss to Cleveland. It was Nassib’s first start since 2020 with the Las Vegas Raiders.
