Penn State tweets of the day
ESPN NFL Draft analyst Field Yates has posted a new top 25 plus individual position rankings for next year’s pro selection process. Two Nittany Lions made his big board. Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter checks in as the No. 2 overall prospect and tight end Tyler Warren makes the cut at No. 20.
“Carter transitioned from a standup linebacker role to an edge role in 2024, and that has brought out the best version of what he can be as a player,” Yates writes. “His acceleration off the edge is the best of any pass rusher in this class and the type of burst that can translate to game-wrecking moments in the NFL. And though rushing the passer is where he will have his greatest impact,
“Carter’s versatility and ability to play linebacker make him even more valuable.”
On Warren, the analyst writes:
“There are faster and more agile players in the class, but I’m not sure how many guys are better with the football in their hands than Warren. He combines power, speed, grit and fearlessness. He brushes would-be tacklers off with ease and plays with great vision to create yards after first contact. Warren has awesome hands and is so powerful that contested-catch situations almost always favor him. And on top of it all, he gets the job done as a hammer in the running game.”

Quote of the day
“Haven’t been able to watch a ton of film but I’ve seen a ton of film on him in crossover, and he’s obviously an elite player. It’s a matchup issue. He’s a complete tight end. season, he’s this season, he’s obviously an elite player. That’s a matchup issue. A complete tight end. So I’m excited to hop in and dive into that plan and try to figure out how we can neutralize them. I think they do as good a job of any of utilizing their personnel. I think their scheme is really difficult to plan for offensively, so that’ll be a fun challenge for us and our defensive staff.”
