Penn State steady in On3 Team Rankings with new pledge
Penn State football’s Class of 2024 grew again on Monday. Announcing his decision via Twitter, four-star offensive lineman Garrett Sexton has pledged to the Nittany Lions.
The 6-foot-6, 245-pound native of Hartland, Wis., made the call for Penn State within a month of his March 30 visit. And, as a result, the Nittany Lion recruiting haul that has defined April continued.
With Sexton’s commitment, Penn State’s Class of 2024 is now up to 11 members. Of those verbals, six have come this month. The cascade began in earnest with the March 25 commitment of tight end Luke Reynolds. In the time since, the Nittany Lions have ticked off pledges from Florida cornerback Jon Mitchell (April 1), Quinton Martin (April 7), Antoine Belgrave-Shorter (April 10), Caleb Brewer (April 15), Donovan Harbour (April 18), and now Sexton.
Penn State football’s place in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings
Given the nature of how the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings work, Penn State’s place in the Top 10 has not changed with his commitment. The Nittany Lions remain 10th, wedged between Tennessee at No. 9 and Oregon at No. 11. The improvement for Penn State has been marked over the past month, climbing from 19th into its current place in the top 10.

Penn State’s overall team score increased slightly with the commitment. The Nittany Lions improved from 91.216 to 91.255. The change pulls the program to within 0.291 points of the Volunteers.
Sizing up the Big Ten
With its 11th commitment, Penn State is tied with Minnesota behind Ohio State and Michigan, who each have 12, for total verbals. The Nittany Lions’ standing in the conference, holding down the third spot, hasn’t changed.
Wisconsin and Iowa round out the top five in the Big Ten. Michigan State, Nebraska, Minnesota, UCLA and Purdue are the rest of the top 10. Rutgers, Maryland, Southern Cal, Illinois and Northwestern finish the rankings. Indiana remains without a verbal for the Class of 2024.
