Penn State still hoping to add to Class of 2025 as Signing Day rolls on
As the clock rolled past 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Penn State officially welcomed its fourth member of the Class of 2025 into the Nittany Lion family. By Noon on Dec. 4, the program expects to have all 26 of its verbal commitments signed, sealed, and delivered. But, speaking on an in-house live stream on Wednesday morning, Lions coach James Franklin left the door open for some potential excitement, though he certainly didn’t promise it.
“This is an exciting day, obviously, for our football program, but more importantly, for the young men and their families,” Franklin said. “We’re still waiting to kind of hear on a couple guys this morning that we’re hopeful for. But I think you also know, for the most part, we don’t have a whole lot of drama on Signing Day. We take a lot of pride in that, lot of communication, a lot of transparency, and usually, knock on wood, we don’t have a whole lot of issues.”
Penn State is certainly still pursuing Pa., tight end Andrew Olesh and North Carolina quarterback commit Bryce Baker, who won’t sign today, among potentially others. You’ll want to follow the Blue-White Illustrated live blog for the latest information.

What else did Penn State coach James Franklin say on Wednesday morning?
On the Class of 2025 as a whole, the 11th-year leader of the Lions said:
“We’ve been able to kind of go across the entire offense and defense and make sure that we have some young, talented players that we can develop for the future,” Franklin said. “And we pretty much filled all those buckets. Some positions a little bit more than others. In terms of numbers, we always want to make sure that we have enough offense and defense alignment. Because, if you fall behind in those numbers, it’s hard to fix that problem fast. You can do it now in the transfer portal a little bit.
“We want to make sure we have the numbers there, and then, I think you know, if you look at our program, we’re trying to identify what are the other positions based on how we want to play offense and defense that are critical? So we may over-sign at those positions as well to make sure we’re going to have the talent needed to compete for Big Ten and national championships.”
