Penn State shared on Monday night that it has taken the next step toward selling alcohol to the general public at Beaver Stadium.
“On Monday, Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) presented to the Penn State Board of Trustee’s Committee on Legal and Compliance a proposal to sell alcohol to the general public at Beaver Stadium,” a news release said. “As had been previously acknowledged, the expansion of the sale of alcohol in Beaver Stadium has been under consideration and the University and ICA have been putting plans in place for this possibility. The University will still need to secure full Board of Trustees and other necessary approvals before proceeding.
“Penn State Athletics is constantly looking for ways to provide additional amenities to fans to improve the game day experience. The 2021 Beaver Stadium Study suggested there was an ever-growing need to improve fan experience and amenities in a historical venue such as Beaver Stadium with one of those being the addition of the sale of alcohol in stadium. Revenue generated from the sale of alcohol will be utilized on deferred maintenance projects at Beaver Stadium.”

The full Board of Trustees must still approve the proposal at its September 23 meeting. If it does, Penn State could have alcohol sales in place for its Sept. 24 home date with Central Michigan. But, that is still to be determined.
In other news, Penn State running back Nick Singleton was both the Big Ten freshmen of the week and one of On3 rankings and scouting director Charles Power’s Week 2 standouts.
“The 6-foot, 219-pounder has the burst, tackle-breaking ability and high-end athleticism to be one of college football’s best running backs by the time he leaves Penn State,” Power writes.

Quote of the day
“I think I like Penn State in this one. [The Ohio game] was a good confidence boost. While the level of competition is going to go up, I think we saw some of the big-play ability that people were hoping for in this offense. That should allow them to then find a little bit more consistency and a little more confidence on the ground. Sometimes, even as a former offensive lineman, you’ve got to see the ball go through the basket a little bit. So you walk in this week and turn on the tape and go, ‘That’s what we’ve been coached to do, these are what the reps are supposed to look like, and when we give a player as talented as Singleton a chance, look at what it can produce.”
