Penn State news, notes, and updates for April 17 include a new transfer portal offer plus a top target’s decision timeline and more.

It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with high school recruiting. Waukesha, Wisc., Catholic Memorial four-star offensive lineman Donovan Harbour will announce his decision Tuesday afternoon inside of his high school’s gymnasium. The Class of 2024 recruit announced a top seven of Penn State, Tennessee, Ohio State, Florida, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Michigan back in December. Now, he’s ready to pick between those schools. After hosting him for the Blue-White game, the Nittany Lions have a big lead, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

In other news, Penn State has sent out its first transfer portal offer during the spring window. It went to former no-star Wyoming offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon. A number of heavy hitters have also offered the Denver, Colo., native, and so the Lions will have to put up a major fight to even get him to campus, let alone land the 6-foot-6, 300-pound guard.

“He’s big, he’s powerful, he moves well and he has multiple years (of eligibility remaining),” an SEC offensive line coach told On3. “That’s what everybody’s looking for. I know he’s a weight room guy. He’s just yoked up. Not really any fat if I’m not mistaken. You can tell he’s got a high ceiling, a huge ceiling.”

Quote of the day

“First off, I loved the fans. A lot of fans were there and having fun and it set the vibe for the game. For the game itself, I could tell that it was really competitive. It was cool seeing the team perform after their spring practices. It was exciting to watch.”
