Penn State transfer pickup expected to make instant impact; Big Ten set to release future schedules: Newsstand
Penn State news, notes, and updates for June 8 include a Lions transfer who is expected to make an instant impact plus a Big Ten scheduling plan and much more.
It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.
Penn State tweets of the day
We start with a list of potential instant impact transfers in the Big Ten from Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports. It includes players from across the conference, including new Penn State receiver and former Kent State All-MAC first-team pick Dante Cephas.
“If you’re a fan of MACtion, you’re already familiar with Dante Cephas,” Fornelli writes. “If you’re not, you’ll learn quickly. Cephas was the star of a Kent State offense that moved quickly and put up points even faster. In 28 games with the Golden Flashes, Cephas caught 145 passes for 2,139 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Nittany Lions need to replace the production of Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley, and Cephus and KeAndre Lambert-Smith should prove to be popular targets of new starting QB Drew Allar.

In other news, it is a big day for the Big Ten. The conference will release its new scheduling model for the 2024 and 2025 seasons while also releasing each teams’ home and away opponents for the next two years. No game dates will be part of the information shared on a 4:30 p.m. ET edition of ‘B1G Live.’ But, how the league will integrate USC and UCLA into its plans while also revealing how many games it will protect for each program, including Penn State, will become public knowledge on Thursday.
