The BWI Daily edition mailbag is back to answer all of your Penn State football, basketball, and college sports questions! Host Thomas Frank Carr and senior editor Nate Bauer discuss the topics on the mind of viewers and listeners of the show.

Penn State Class of 2022 top of mind in mailbag

Today, they discuss various topics filtering out of the NFL Draft and spring football. First, however, they’ll start with a BWI message board member looking ahead to the 2022 season. The stars of the Class of 2022 are evident, but which under-the-radar player has a chance to participate in their freshmen season? Bauer and T-Frank give some names and explain their criteria for selecting those players.

The next question deals with a similar vein of thought. What does Maryland transfer Demeioun Robinson need to improve upon to start opposite of veteran Penn State defensive end Adisa Isaac? Again, T-Frank gives some specific areas of improvement and then broadens the conversation to the whole picture.

Next, they discuss the topic of the 2023 NFL Draft. With so many early projections, one viewer wants to know how Penn State fans would feel if Kentucky quarterback Will Levis, found his way into the top of the first round next spring. T-Frank gives some thoughts on why Levis is getting that praise now from an analytical perspective. Next, he and Bauer discuss which Penn State players have a chance to be early picks in 2023.

The future of college football?

The next question asks about reinstating the one-year ineligibility rule for transfers. Not only does Bauer thinks that isn’t going to happen, but he also explains why the whole model is about to blow up. He goes through the problems for enacting any rule, thanks to the forces outside of the NCAA’s control.

They discuss basketball and the situation that the team finds themselves in this summer. For example, do they have a big man target? If so, what is holding up the movement at the position? Bauer relays what he knows and why things haven’t move after a flurry of activity by the program last month.

Finally, they work their way back around to the Penn State football Class of 2022. This time, a listener asks specifically about freshman linebacker Abdul Carter. Where does he fit, and when will he play? They also discuss the receiver position before wrapping up with questions submitted on Twitter.
