Penn State tweets of the day
We start with the latest on the Lions’ efforts to land a receiver or two in the transfer portal.
Penn State entered Wednesday with a commitment from former North Carolina State receiver Devin Carter and the possibility of landing one from former Bowling Green receiver Tyrone Broden. The Lions ended it, however, with neither.
First, Broden announced that he was no longer committing to his future school as expected around 3 p.m. ET. A future decision date has not yet been set, but his recruitment is “open.”
Then, around 8 p.m. ET, Carter, who picked the Lions back on Jan. 2 an hour after the Rose Bowl ended, flipped to West Virginia.
It leaves head coach James Franklin’s team with no transfer portal commitments at receiver at this point.

Many top targets are already off of the board. But, Kent State pass catcher Dante Cephas is still undecided and likely will remain that way until later this year. Washington State receiver Freddie Roberson is also uncommitted and has an offer. Other players will be added to the program’s target list in the coming days and weeks. But, the Lions certainly suffered a shakeup to their board on the second Wednesday of January.
In other news, Penn State did receive some positive updates on the high school front on Wednesday. Florida four-star athlete Fred Gaskin III put the Lions in his top eight, along with Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, Michigan State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
Penn State also sent a new offers out to Class of 2025 linebacker Jakaleb Faulk and California four-star running back Nathaniel Frazier.

Quote of the day
“I improved a lot just in knowing the game and things like that. Coming here, I thought football was go out there and play. [This year] I learned a lot more about what to expect, what the next move is, and thinking about the next move, how it’s going to happen, and things like that. I learned a lot more.”
