The entry deadline for the spring and winter transfer portal windows has passed. Penn State had wins and losses during both stretches, one of which ran during the team’s College Football Playoff run while the other started and ended during spring practice. Barring a couple of exceptions such as the rare late spring coaching change, prospects cannot go into the portal anymore. But, those still in it are taking visits and trying to find their next spot. The Lions are chasing a few of those players.

We have a full rundown of everything you need to know below.

Who did Penn State add during the transfer portal windows?

As of the morning of May 1, Penn State has added six players from the transfer portal. Five were here for spring practice after joining during the winter window. And, one will be here for summer workouts after going into and then exiting the portal this spring.

The group already on campus includes the following players:

No. 5: WR Devonte Ross (from Troy)

#11: WR Kyron Hudson (USC)

No. 16: S King Mack (Alabama)

No. 34: DT Owen Wafle (Michigan)

#45: DE Enai White (Texas A&M)

No. 54: T.J. Shanahan (Texas A&M)

All earned positive reviews during spring practice, though Mack suffered an injury that cost him most of the practices.

As for the one Penn State newcomer who is not here just yet, former top Syracuse receiver Trebor Pena picked the Lions last Saturday. He has since officially signed with the program and will start classes soon.

Who did the Lions lose to the portal from their 2024 roster?

A total of 15 Penn State players from the 2024 roster moved on following the season via one of the two portal windows.

The winter losses (and where they ended up) include:

Tyrece MillsUCONN
CB Cam MillerRutgers
TE Jerry CrossMemphis
WR Trey WallaceOle Miss
WR Omari EvansWashington
DT T.A. CunninghamGarden City Community College
QB Beau PribulaMissouri
WR Mehki FlowersAkron
WR Tyler JohnsonEast Carolina

Defensive end Smith Vilbert later joined that group in moving. He is now at North Carolina.

As for the spring window losses, here is that list:

OL JB Nelson: Kansas State
LB Ta’Mere RobinsonUSC
CB Jon Mitchell: Georgia Tech
DL Joseph Mupoyi: North Carolina
LB Beckham Dee: TBD
K Chase Meyer: TBD

Who is Penn State targeting to add?

The focus right now is on the linebacker position. As of the morning of May 1, former Rutgers linebacker Mohamed Toure took a visit to campus but has not yet made a decision. He is visiting Miami on Thursday, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Former North Carolina linebacker Amare Campbell, then, is set to visit campus this weekend.

Final word

One thing to note is that it appears that the NCAA vs. House settlement will no longer include a 105-man roster cap for the 2025 season. So, Penn State currently sitting at 114 players before Pena, any other portal adds, and 11 more Class of 2025 signees arrive is no longer the concern it once was.
