Penn State news, notes, and updates for Jan. 10 include a transfer target picking a different school, new NFL mock drafs, and more.

It’s time to dive into Wednesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with a transfer portal update. Penn State had interest in former Florida Atlantic wide receiver Lajohntay Wester after he started looking for a new home following the 2023 season. However, he committed to Colorado on Tuesday. He had 108 receptions for 1,168 yards and 8 touchdowns last fall.

The Lions are not left empty-handed at the position when it comes to the portal, of course. Former Ohio State receiver and Pa., native Julian Fleming is in State College and has enrolled in classes as the first week of the spring semester continues. He picked the Lions earlier this month and adds experience to a receivers room that aims to take a step forward in 2024. And, other options may exist when it comes to finding more portla pickups at the position.

In other news, new NFL mock drafts from Pro Football Focus and USA Today both slot former Penn State tackle Olu Fashanu to the Tennessee Titans with the No. 7 overall selection.

“The Titans’ top need is the offensive line,” Trevor Sikkema writes for PFF. “They drafted Peter Skoronski in the first round last year, but he moved to guard right away. Now, they must look to offensive tackle. Fashanu is a rare mover at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds. He does have some inconsistencies when it comes to power in both pass protection and run blocking, but he is just 21 years old and can certainly improve in that area.”

Quote of the day

“I think it was a really great trip out there. We weren’t sure exactly what to expect. It was a long trip for us. We have a group of guys that haven’t traveled that far before. But, travel went well. The venue was great. The crowd was loud. It was a large crowd. They were there excited to watch wrestling. The whole operation was a class act. So it was it was a good trip.”

–PSU wrestling associate head coach Cody Sanderson on the Lions’ trip to Oregon State, where they won 36-3 last Friday.
