Penn State UDFA roundup: Kimber, Izzard, Wormley, Fleming ink deals after 5 Lions go in NFL Draft

Penn State football became just the third program to have five or more draft picks in each of the last eight seasons on Saturday afternoon. By the evening, four other Nittany Lions found their way to the pros via the undrafted free agency process.
Defensive tackle Coziah Izzard is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. His agent told Onward State that $225,000 of the deal is guaranteed. It is worth over $2 million over three years, the site reports via the agent. Izzard made 78 tackles (17.5 for loss) and netted nine sacks and two forced fumbles during his time in blue and white.
“This is a great opportunity for Coziah,” Penn State defensive line coach Deion Barnes wrote in a statement on social media. “I’ve really enjoyed getting to work with him over the last five seasons. Coziah is a defensive tackle you could always count on to go in there and execute his role every time his name was called. He made a lot of plays for us and worked well with all the defensive tackles. He is a great teammate, and I look forward to watching him compete for the Chiefs.”

Former Penn State receiver Julian Fleming is joining Sean Clifford in Green Bay. He signed with the Packers, where this year’s pro selection process took place, shortly after the 257th and final pick was made. Guard Sal Wormley, meanwhile, is signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“I’ve truly enjoyed coaching Sal Wormley over the past five seasons,” Penn State offensive line coach Phil Trautwein wrote in a statement posted to social media. “I’m thrilled for him and the opportunity he’s getting in Jacksonville. Sal brought a positive presence to our offensive line room. He’s always had the drive to go out and dominate. He’s strong, athletic, and has great feet, which makes him an attractive pro prospect. He grew every year and became a consistent force for us on the offensive line. Sal deserves this opportunity and has earned every bit of it.”
Former Nittany Lion cornerback Jalen Kimber is signing an undrafted free agency deal with the Tennessee Titans. He joins former teammate KJ Winston there.

Abdul Carter led the way in this five-man group. The edge rusher went at No. 3 overall to the New York Giants. While G-Men legend Lawerence Taylor declined Carter’s request to wear his retired No. 56, the Philadelphia native and Penn State All-American is otherwise happy with his first NFL stop.
“Just an exciting player, a fun player,” Carter told GIants.com. “I like to get the crowd involved. Get the crowd hyped on 3rd downs, get my best pass rush, make that big explosive play, just 100 percent effort, my energy. I’m bringing everything.

“I feel like I’m just getting started. This is my first year in a new position, just all of the technical stuff. I feel like I can improve in all the areas of my game.”
All-American tight end Tyler Warren is also now a first round pick. The Penn State star went to the Indianapolis Colts at No. 14.
“It was a team I really enjoyed the staff in my meeting with them. And, enjoyed being there for my 30 visit. I’m just really excited. It’s a great place to go play football. I’m excited to work with that program and that organization,” Warren said, per WISHTV.com.
Safety KJ Winston Jr., was the next Nittany Lion off the board. He went at No. 82 overall to Tennessee. Then, on Day 3, two Penn State players went off the board. Safety Jaylen Reed went to Houston in Round 6. And, linebacker Kobe King went to Minnesota in the same round.
This marks the first time Penn State put five in the NFL for eight straight years. Only Alabama and Georgia have done the same over this stretch.
