Penn State tweets of the day
We start with television ratings from Week 1 of the college football season. The Nittany Lions’ 38-15 win over West Virginia was the fourth most-watched opening weekend game with 3.5 million viewers. Flordia State’s big win over LSU led the way with 9.17 million viewers. Colorado’s upset of TCU had 7.26 million viewers. And, Ohio State–Indiana was third with 4.6 million viewers.
In other news, CBS national college football writer Dennis Dodd released his first set of power rankings since Week 1 concluded. While the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll have Penn State at No. 7, Dodd ranks them at No. 3. It is by far the highest rating for head coach James Franklin’s team ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Delaware.
“The Drew Allar era began with a bang. Penn State’s new star QB threw three touchdown passes in his debut as a starter as part of a 325-yard passing night against West Virginia. Call them The Quadruples – Allar, RBs Nicholas Singleton (70 yards), Kaytron Allen (51 yards) and WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith (123 yards, two touchdowns).”
Georgia and Michigan led the way. Florida State and Washington rounded out the top five.

Quote of the day
“We know we have our work cut out for us. But we’ve been saying it for the past three days now: ‘Just go out there and play football.’
“We’re playing football at the end of the day, no matter who it is. So we’re definitely excited for the challenge, we’re excited for the crowd. That’s gonna be super fun, the great atmosphere. I think we’re all happy that we get to just show what we can do in front of a big crowd.”
