Penn State White Out List update, Best Bets: BWI Daily
While Penn State football takes on Michigan this weekend for a critical game on the schedule, next’s week’s home game is the biggest recruiting game of the season. The 2022 White Out list is already shaping up, and recruiting insider Ryan Snyder dishes out the information fans want to know about the upcoming batch of recruits.
Penn State White Out list is star-studded
However, Snyder and show host Thomas Frank Carr start with the Friday night trip that Snyder is taking to watch more Penn State football prospects. Snyder is staying local this week, traveling to Lancaster to see Nittany Lion tight end commit Joey Schlaffer to face offensive line prospect Deyvid Palepale. The 6-2 305-pound offensive line prospect is an up-and-coming player in the state that Penn State recently offered. As always, Snyder will share player highlights next week.
Next, they dip into the White Out recruiting list. They touch on the linebacker group that will come to the game next Saturday, which is something Snyder and Blue White Illustrated publisher Sean Fitz discussed on Tuesday. Aaron Chiles, Anthony Speca and the rest of the 2024 linebackers make up a deep and talented group of players. Snyder starts with that group before covering running backs and the offensive line.
Beyond position groups, individual players stand out as well. Top-170 defensive end Brian Robinson will visit next weekend, as well as top-15 wide receiver Ryan Wingo. While it’s always a strong list of prospects, next weekend’s White Out list is shaping up to be a star-studded group of players, including Quinton Martin and Omillio Agar.

Scouting Penn State’s next opponent, the Michigan Wolverines: Defense
There are no more excuses about talent level, coaching, or quality of opponent. Penn State takes on the Michigan Wolverines Saturday in a battle of top-ten teams in the nation. The defense for the Wolverines has retooled after the loss of star pass rushers Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo. This season they’re relying on the efforts of defensive tackle Mazi Smith to control the interior of the line and edge rusher Mike Morris to provide pressure.
But beyond that, it’s a stout defense that does several things very well. We’ll discuss how the defense operates and what fans should expect from that matchup on Saturday for Penn State.
Penn State offense vs. Michigan Defense: Running game
There are plenty of similarities between the Penn State and Michigan defenses, which we’ll get to momentarily. One crucial difference, however, is the way they stop the run. To get the job done, Penn State uses aggressive attacking linebackers, speed, and disruption in stunts. Meanwhile, the Wolverines use size and power to shut the running game up the middle.
That effort starts with Smith’s ability to win double teams and be disruptive against the run. Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins is another quality run defender who is hard to move off the spot and will body his way through double-teams to penetration into the backfield.
