Penn State will wear a CFP logo on its helmet and patch on its uniform against SMU; here's what they look like
Penn State football, like every other team playing on Saturday, will have a College Football Playoff patch on its home blue uniforms and a CFP decal on its white helmets when it hosts SMU for a first round game at Beaver Stadium. Kickoff if set for Noon ET on TNT.
Besides the patch and decal, “The CFP will emblazon its interlocking football logo with “First Round” text between the hashmarks on the 25-yard lines,” at Beaver Stadium and every other home venue, CBS Sports reports. It’s one of many ways the CFP influence will be felt. While it is indeed a home gmae for the Lions, the CFP runs most of the show and receives all ticket revenue. Penn State collects the rest, including parking, concessions, and so on.
“Obviously it’s in Beaver Stadium,” Lions coach James Franklin said Wednesday night when asked about the differences between this home game and a regular season home game. “One of the things I think is really important is the students. Our students make a huge difference for us, and obviously being after finals and things like that makes it a little bit challenging. So that’s a little bit of a concern.
“And then obviously it’s a home game for us, but to your point, the College Football Playoff pretty much runs everything else. So it will not feel like it normally feels to us playing a home game in Beaver Stadium. But overall, in general, obviously, we’re glad and fortunate to be home. So we’ll take it. This is the structure that exists and we’re going to embrace it and move forward.”

What will the CFP logos look like at Penn State Saturday?
Photos of what the CFP logo will look like on the turf have not yet been revealed. But, Penn State did share its new uniform additions on Thursday, roughly 52 hours before kickoff. You can see what they look like below:
Penn State is an 8.5-point favorite over the Mustangs.
“These are the kind of names you dream of as a kid playing in the atmosphere, like what they have up there,” SMU safety Isaiah Nwokobia said this week. “So just excited for the city, excited for this program, man. Just happy to be here, man. It’s probably by far the biggest game that I’ve played here so far. So we are excited about the challenge, for sure.”
