Penn State wrestling adds Brock Weiss to Class of 2024
Penn State has added another wrestler to its Class of 2024. Former PIAA place winner and Jersey Shore junior Brock Weiss picked the Nittany Lions on Monday night.
“I am excited to announce that I am continuing my athletic and academic career at Penn State University,” Weiss wrote on Instagram. “I would like to thank those who have helped me along the way.”
Weiss owns a career high school record of 102-11 with 57 falls, according to PA-Wrestling.com. He finished second at states in the 120-pound bracket during his sophomore season. As a junior, he was 29-0, with 20 of those triumphs coming via a pin before missing weight at the PIAA A District 4/9 tournament, which ended his season prematurely. Weiss was considered one of the top 127-pound wrestlers in the Keystone State before his early exit from the postseason. He will likely be a walk-on at Penn State. Last weekend, he finished eighth at the U17 U.S. Open tournament in Las Vegas, Nev. It is unclear if he will compete in any other freestyle tournaments this summer before turning all of his focus toward his senior folkstyle season. But, it seems likely.
Weiss projects at 125, 133 or 141 pounds in college, depending on how he fills out before arriving in State College.

Penn State continues to add to its future rosters
Weiss is the latest M2 trainee to pick Penn State. It is run by legendary Lion David Taylor, of course. Weiss is not on FloWrestling’s Class of 2024 big board. However, six members of the program’s next recruiting class are: Luke Lilledahl (No. 2), Joe Sealey (No. 5), Zack Ryder (No. 6), Mason Gibson (No. 8), Connor Mirasola (No. 9), and Cole Mirasola (No. 18). None of them can be in head coach Cael Sanderson’s lineup until the 2024-2025 season, of course. But, they will help the Lions reload instead or rebuild yet again when their eligibility begins.
Penn State has also added talent for the 2023-2024 season too, of course. Three transfers picked the program this offseason. Three-time All-American Bernie Truax IV joins the Lions from Cal Poly and is set to battle for a job at 184 or 197. Former Minnesota All-American Aaron Nagao will take over at 133 pounds. And, former Wisconsin prep star Mitchell Mesenbrink is coming to State College after one season at Cal Baptist. Numerous high-level freshmen will join the program this summer, as well.
