It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with wrestling. Penn State won its fourth straight and 10th Big Ten regular season title since 2012 by convincingly knocking off Nebraska on Sunday at Rec Hall. The Lions did so despite losing three of the first five matches before picking up bonus point victories at 174, 197, and 285 en route to a 22-13 victory.

“We know who we have in our lineup and it’s a team effort,” Penn State coach Cael Sanderson said, per PennLive. “And if something doesn’t go our way, it just gives other people and opportunity to step up and help the team. We always want to win every match but we’ve got some stuff we can play with and we just have to get ready for the next one.”

The match played out mostly as expected. But, freshman Braeden Davis was upset by major decision, 11-3, at 125 pounds. And, starter Aaron Nagao did not compete at 133 pounds.

“We were fine even though we were down at the half,” Penn State 174-pound starter Carter Starocci said. The Lions trailed in a dual meet for the first time this season against the Cornhuskers. “That stuff kind of ticks me off a little bit. “We’ll keep getting better and our best wrestling is gonna be at the national tournament; that’s our main focus.”

Quote of the day

“I kind of just love watching those systems because of how the NFL is like a lot of the West Coast like Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan tree right now. I’ll just go through and watch all those cut-ups, just stuff that we have in our offense and hopefully getting in this year. That kind of fits our whole offense.”
