Penn State updates from the weekend kick off a new week.

The Lions participated in the THON pep rally on Saturday. Sunday, the wrestling team took out Rider to finish the regular season unbeaten. And, the football program also picked up a new walk-on addition back on Saturday.

Here are the top tweets and headlines about Penn State and college football on Feb. 21.

We start with THON.

Penn State alums Nick Scott and Pat Freiermuth were back in town for the pep rally at the annual student-run fundraiser that raises money for the fight against pediatric cancer. Head coach James Franklin also took the stage, as did some of his youngest players for the athlete pep rally.

You can check out clips from that below. The THON 2022 event raised $13,756,347.50.

In other news, head coach Cael Sanderson’s wrestling team popped Rider to end the regular season.

Penn State shutout The Broncs 45-0. The Lions did it with Carter Starocci back in the lineup at 174 but without Aaron Brooks at 184. Brady Berge also dropped down to compete at 157. That was a long-expected possibility that finally took place. He won, as did Creighton Edsell at 165.

It marked the conclusion of a perfect dual meet season for the Lions. Now, the individual postseason begins with the Big Ten tournament in two weeks.

Finally, a new walk-on has picked PSU.

Jashaun Green committed to the Lions over the weekend. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound corner/receiver is from State College High.

Quote of the day

“It’s been great. I can tell we’re going to have a really good connection. I’ve been getting extra time with him because as a linebacker, I have to be able to relay his message. I have to be the guy that can really be on the same wavelength as him all the time, so I’m still trying to feel that out. It’s definitely been great, though. I learned a lot of stuff from him.”
