Penn State wrestling hosting nation's No. 1 recruit, Bo Bassett, for an official visit
Penn State wrestling is hosting its top recruiting target in the Class of 2026, Johnstown, Pa., Bishop McCort 157-pound star Bo Bassett, for an official visit this weekend. The star junior arrived on campus Friday and will stay through Sunday, meaning he will have time to check out the Lions’ top-five football game with Ohio State across campus from Rec Hall and the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex on Saturday afternoon.
“Penn State weekend has started! RTC Workout,” Bassett wrote on Twitter, referring to the program’s legendary Olympic Regional Training Center program.
Bassett is in no rush to make a decision. He will decide sometime next year. Matscouts calls him the nation’s No. 1 junior.
“I will be pushing my recruiting into the spring,” Bassett writes in his ‘Inner Circle’ newsletter. “I am in no rush to make a really big decision until I get to see all the schools I may be interested in! Some wrestlers don’t like this process, but I can honestly say I am really enjoying it. My view is, I only get to do the recruiting process once, so I am going to enjoy it and have fun with it. I sometimes like to do things differently and hope everyone likes these updates.”

The Hawkeyes and Nittany Lions are contenders, along with Virginia Tech, Cornell, Michigan, Ohio State, Rutgers, Iowa State, Pitt-Johnstown, Princeton, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Northern Iowa, and Missouri.
