Penn State wrestling kicks off its time at the Collegiate Wrestling Duals Monday night. The two-day tournament starts with the Lions taking on Central Michigan first and North Carolina second. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s team will then face a to-be-determined opponent on Tuesday. The team and time will be announced after the conclusion of Monday’s matches.

“It was a great event last year down south,” Sanderson said this week, according to PennLive. “We had some big matches, big dual meets and we’re looking forward to (this year). We have finals week so that’s kind of our priority and focus with these guys. But we’ll have Central Michigan and North Carolina and then depending on how we do will determine the next matchup, but definitely a lot of potential excitement there.”

Here’s everything you need to know to get ready for the matches.

What will the top matches be on Monday night?

A few matches stand out from the projected rundown. In the Penn State-Central Michigan match, Van Ness opposite Lovett at 149 pounds marks another opportunity for the redshirt freshman to pick up another ranked win. He is off to a good start this season, wrestling aggressively, and wants to score points in bulk. Terrell Barraclough also faces a ranked wrestler in Chippewas senior Corbyn Munson. However, freshman Levi Haines also weighed in for the Lions, according to a social media report. So, he may be on the mat for this match instead. Time will tell.

As for the North Carolina match, top-ranked Lion Carter Starocci squares off with eighth-ranked Clay Lautt. That figures to be a tremendous matchup between two likely All-Americans. Van Ness also gets another ranked opponent against the Tar Heels when he faces No. 14 Zach Sherman. That will also be a must-watch bout.
