Penn State wrestling has added another highly-decorated high school wrestler to its Class of 2024. Missouri native and Kingston, Pa., Wyoming Seminary star Luke Lilledahl committed to the Lions on Monday.

“I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Penn State University,” Lilledahl wrote on social media. “I have enjoyed and appreciated getting to know many coaches during my recruitment. And, I appreciate all the time and effort that they spent teaching me about their programs and getting to know me. I would also like to thank my family, my coaches, and the CBC and Wyoming Seminary families for everything they have done for me over the years. The best is yet to come!”

Lilledahl is the No. 2 Class of 2024 recruit in the country, according to Flo Wrestling. The outlet also calls him the top-ranked 120-pound wrestler in the nation.

“Lilledahl will arrive in State College, Pa., with a trophy case full of accolades,” Andrew Spey writes for Flo. “Just this past season he won a Super 32 belt in the fall, followed that up with a championship at the prestigious Walsh Jesuit Ironman, then capped off the season with a 2023 National Prep title.

“Lilledhal is also highly credentialled in freestyle, having made back-to-back U17 world teams, bringing home a silver medal in 2021 and winning gold in 2022 in Rome.”

Penn State has Class of 2024 commitments from Joe Sealey, Zack Ryder, Mason Gibson, Connor Mirasola, and Cole Mirasola. The first four are all in the top 10 on Flo Wrestling’s Big Board for their age group.

How will Lilledahl fit in at Penn State?

Lilledahl could be the next great hope for Penn State to put an All-American on the board at 125 pounds. That said, he still has another season of growing to do, which could ultimately send him to the 133-pound weight class once he officially joins the Lions.

Head coach Cael Sanderson and his staff continue to try and add big-time recruits who will fit in the lighter part of the lineup in Class of 2024. Besides Lilledahl, Gibson also projects at either 125 or 133 pounds, though it’s not out of the questions to think he could one day find a home at 141 pounds. He figures to start at one f the first two listed weights, though.

Penn State is enjoying the offseason fresh off another NCAA title. It also crowned two individual champs in Carter Starocci at 174 pounds and Aaron Brooks at 184.
