Penn State-Nebraska wrestling preview: What could the Lions lineup look like opposite the Cornhuskers?
Penn State wrestling was down a couple of starters for Friday night’s match with Ohio State.
It didn’t stop the Lions from persevering in the ned.
Head coach Cael Sanderson’s team won eight of 10 bouts en route to a resounding 32-7 win over the Buckeyes.
Now, Nebraska is coming to town.
“I think we wrestled fine,” Sanderson told reporters Friday night. “We had a couple of guys out of the lineup; they had a couple of guys out of their lineup.
“That just happens this time of the year. We just need to finish strong here on Sunday against Nebraska because they have a really good team also.”
Here’s a preview of Sunday’s Big Ten dual.
How to watch, stream, Penn State-Nebraska, and what time does it start?
Penn State and Nebraska meet at Noon on Sunday. It will be televised by Big Ten Network.
You can also find Penn State wrestling on the radio or streaming online with longtime play-by-play voice Jeff Byers. LionVision will be available, for free, at about 11:40 a.m.
The official Penn State wrestling Twitter account, @pennstateWREST, provides bout-by-bout updates, as well. And, we’ll be discussing the action before, during, and after the dual inside The Wrestling Room forum here at BWI.
It’s the second bout of the weekend for both sides
The No. 8 Cornhuskers wrestled a match already this weekend, too. They fell 20-13 opposite Michigan. Things went mostly as expected in that meeting. But, Bubba Wilson did upset Wolverine Cameron Amine at 165 in a 5-3 decision. Then, on the flip side, Michigan’s No. 13 Will Lewan topped Nebraska’s No. 5 Peyton Robb 3-1 in sudden victory at 157.

Nebraska had its regular lineup, as best as this reporter can tell.
Penn State, of course, did not Friday and is not expected to Sunday. Per Byers, both Brady Berge and Carter Starocci are unlike to compete today. That means Creighton Edsell and Mason Manville should be expected to fill in again.
Matches to watch
The 157-pound bout between Robb and Terrell Barraclough could be a good one. If nothing else, it’ll be another learning experience for the Nittany Lion as he tries to lock in the starting spot in that weight class.
Assuming everyone else is healthy and ready to go, No. 8 Chad Red Jr., vs. No. 1 Nick Lee at 141 should be a doozy. So, too, should No. 3 Eric Schultz vs. No. 2 Max Dean at 197. However, Pat Mineo of The Wrestling Room says it will be Michael Beard, and not Dean, at 197.
Finally, A top-10 bout is on deck at 184, as well, where No. 9 Taylor Venz will meet top-ranked Penn State wrestler Aaron Brooks.
