Penn State wrestling schedule: Lions to attend Collegiate Wrestling Duals in December
Penn State will return to the Collegiate Wrestling Duals for the third time in four years this December. The Nittany Lions attended the event during both the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons but did not attend last year. The two-day, three-match round-robin showcase is one of the marquee events on any team’s non-conference schedule. This year, it will be held Dec. 21-22 at Ensworth Frist Campus, which is a high school in Nashville, Tenn.
The list of teams competing at the Duals includes No. 5 Ohio State, No. 7 Missouri, No. 15 Iowa State, No. 17 Little Rock, No. 23 Lock Haven, No. 29 North Carolina, and No. 36 Binghamton, in addition to the No. 1 Nittany Lions. All rankings are courtesy of InterMat.
In past years, tournament organizers have worked to ensure teams who meet otherwise during the regular season do not compete at this event. So, at minimum, that means Penn State will almost certainly not wrestle the Buckeyes. But, any of the other six teams are a possibility for their two matches on Dec. 21. The third is typically determined by how things go on day one. Match and time details will be released at a later date. The same goes for ticket information, which is not currently available on the organizer’s website, which is Journeymen Wrestling.
Penn State wrestling schedule starts to take shape
Penn State wrestling has and will not release its full 2024-2025 schedule for some time. The Big Ten must first finalize and announce the conference schedule before a full slate of home and away dates can be revealed. But, we now know that three of the team’s non-conference matches will be used at the Collegiate Wrestling Duals. Another will likely see the Nittany Lions hosting EIWA foe American in February for the first time since the 2019-2020 season. And, we also know the team will welcome Wyoming, who competes in the Big 12, to State College later this year. Per the Cowboys’ schedule, that match is set for Sun., Dec. 15. Time and TV details are not yet available.

“When the opportunity to dual against Penn State came up, we jumped on it,” Wyoming head coach Mark Branch told the school’s official website. “Those are the kind of opportunities we want for this team. We have several guys who can be All-Americans, so you want to wrestle the best, and Penn State has proven who they are for the last decade.”
As for the Big Ten slate, Penn State will host Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, and Maryland. It will travel to Nebraska, Illinois, Ohio State, and Rutgers.
