Penn State wrestling will meet a familiar foe during the non-conference portion of its 2024-2025 schedule. Lehigh announced on Monday that it will battle the Nittany Lions at the PPL Center in Allentown. The dual meet is set for Sun., Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. ET. Tickets will go on sale on Mon., September 23 at 10 a.m. through PPLCenter.com, or the PPL Center QNB Box Office.

Head coach Cael Sanderson’s team beat the Mountainhawks 30-10 in State College a year ago. They last met at the PPL Center in 2017 for the first-ever wrestling match at the home of the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms. This year will mark the 112th meeting between the two schools on the mat. The Lions are 74-34-3 since 1911 and owners of a 13-match winning streak.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to return to PPL Center to wrestle Penn State,” Lehigh head coach Pat Santoro said in a news release. “Our match in 2017 was an amazing event and working with the team at PPL Center was an incredible experience for everyone involved.”

Television information was not immediately available.

Penn State set for return to Collegiate Wrestling Duals

Penn State will return to the Collegiate Wrestling Duals for the third time in four years this December. The Nittany Lions attended the event during both the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons but did not attend last year. The two-day, three-match round-robin showcase is one of the marquee events on any team’s non-conference schedule. This year, it will be held Dec. 21-22 at Ensworth Frist Campus, which is a high school in Nashville, Tenn.

The list of teams competing at the Duals includes No. 5 Ohio State, No. 7 Missouri, No. 15 Iowa State, No. 17 Little Rock, No. 23 Lock Haven, No. 29 North Carolina, and No. 36 Binghamton, in addition to the No. 1 Nittany Lions. All rankings are courtesy of InterMat.
