Penn State had a successful weekend on the wrestling mat and inside the Lasch Building.

The Nittany Lions picked off a pair of victories for head coach Cael Sanderson on the road. Back in State College, then, James Franklin and his staff completed another Junior Day event.

Both topics lead the top things to know about Penn State and college football on Jan. 24. Let’s get to the tweets and headlines of the day.

We start with Junior Day.

The Lions hosted players of all ages, of course, for the second of three visit weekends in January. Penn State offered Class of 2024 prospect Peter Jones. It also hosted numerous four-stars, including Georgia linebacker Dee Crayton and offensive lineman Austin Ramsey.

The Lions did not net a commitment but did lay the foundation for future ones on this particular weekend.

Next, we take a look at the action on the mats. After blowing out No. 3 Michigan on Friday, Penn State made short work of Michigan State on Sunday.

The Lions topped the Spartans 28-9. No. 2 Max Dean was upset 3-2 at 197 pounds by Cameron Caffey. And, Roman Bravo-Young was not available at 133 pounds. But, the Lions still won seven of 10 bouts, highlighted by a Greg Kerkvliet fall in 1:58 to end the match at heavyweight.
