The Penn State wrestling program will be featured on the Big Ten Network four times during the 2022-2023 season.
BTN announced its winter lineup of matches on Thursday. The Lions will be on the air first Fri., Jan. 6, when they travel to Wisconsin for a 9 p.m. ET dual meet. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s team will next be on Big Ten Network back-to-back Fridays when it hosts Michigan on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. before Iowa visits on Jan. 27 for an 8:30 p.m. match. Both duals will be held at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College.
Finally, Penn State will be on BTN when it travels to Ohio State on Fri., Feb. 3. That match starts at 7 p.m. ET.
Other PSU matches during the 2022-2023 season, which starts on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. when Lock Haven visits Rec Hall, will be available for streaming on B1G+.
Looking ahead to the Lions’ season
According to media polls, Penn State is the No. 1 team in the country.
Noted wrestling publication WIN Magazine is one of the many places picking Penn State to win another national title this season. It also ranked numerous Nittany Lions before the season starts.
Four Penn State wrestlers top their respective weight classes: Roman Bravo-Young (133 pounds), Carter Starocci (174), Aaron Brooks (184), and Max Dean (197). Heavyweight Greg Kerkvliet is second behind Arizona State’s Cohlton Schultz, who was second at last year’s NCAA Tournament. Beau Bartlett, then, is 17th at his 141-pound spot. No Lions were ranked at 125, 149, 157, or 165.
