It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with wrestling. Head coach Cael Sanderson won his 99th dual meet at Penn State as the Nittany Lions thumped Michigan State 34-6 at Rec Hall. Gary Steen scored an upset at 125 pounds by beating No. 24 Tristan Lujan 3-1 in sudden victory. The Lions sent Terrell Barraclough out at 157 pounds, which preserves freshman Levi Haines’ redshirt for now, and he lost 6-2 to No. 15 Chris Saldate. Penn State won eight of 10 bouts overall to improve to 10-0 on the season.

“I think we had a good weekend,” Sanderson said, per PennLive. “Two solid Michigan teams and Michigan State today had the potential to be a tough match.”

Added Steen to PennLive:

“Wrestling today in Rec Hall was a complete blast. No better time to come out and wrestle in front of a home crowd and get a big win. “I got some good shots going and my offense felt really good out there. I’d like to finish more of those shots, but I ended up getting a good win in overtime.”
