The 2023 college football season has arrived, Penn State fans. With West Virginia coming to town Saturday evening for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on NBC, James Franklin and his squad won’t be afforded a tune-up game this year like we’ve seen in most seasons under his leadership.

Although Franklin is yet to name a starting quarterback, former five-star Drew Allar is expected to be the guy after playing in 10 games last season. Franklin said he hopes to see a continuation of what he saw last fall from Allar.

“At the end of the day, I want him to continue to play like he did last year, with poise and a really good understanding of how to manage the game,” Franklin said. “I also want him to let the plays come to him. Because, with our running game, and with the weapons that we have at tight end and wide receiver, he doesn’t need to force anything.”
