Penn State football enters a key recruiting weekend with eight high-priority official visits on Friday and Saturday. It’s a weekend that could produce more than one commitment for the program. That’s why recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins host Thomas Frank Carr to break down all the action for the weekend before it happens.

Penn State expected to pick up at least one commitment this weekend

They start with Snyder’s recruiting prediction that he placed this week. He thinks three-star defensive tackle Tyriq Blanding will commit to Penn State over Michigan and his other top schools on Saturday. Next, Snyder gives an overview of Blanding’s recruitment, where he comes from, and more. T-Frank gives a quick scouting thumbnail as well. After discussing that, they look at the rest of the defensive line class that Penn State has assembled, and Snyder gives his thoughts on how that group stacks up.

Next, Snyder details the important uncommitted players that are visiting this weekend. Penn State has top players like linebackers Tony Rojas and Ta’Mere Robinson on campus, which they discuss at the show’s end.

First, T-Frank wants to discuss four-star safety from Florida, King Mack. T-Frank wants to start there because Snyder thinks Mack might be the next player to commit to the class after Blanding. Why? And has that changed since other schools have shown interest in Mack and his teammate Conrad Hussey? Sndyer also brings up Scranton Prep running back London Montgomery as a potential commitment this weekend.

Does Penn State have a shot with edge prospects visiting this weekend?

After that, T-Frank sets his sights on Cass Technical defensive end Jalen Thompson. He moved his official visit to this weekend, so is that a good or bad sign? Penn State is competing with Michigan State in Thompson’s recruitment, so do they have a shot? Snyder gives some intel on the situation. Next, they further examine the defensive end position with Alabama four-star defensive end Tomarrion Parker. There’s been positive talk about Parker with the Nittany Lions but is that still the case? Again, Snyder fills T-Frank in on the latest details, and then they discuss the rest of the defensive end board beyond the two visits.

Finally, T-Frank asks about a mid-week visitor who unexpectedly cropped up at Penn State. Three-star offensive tackle Naquil Betrand visited the Nittany Lions this week. The duo discusses his potential fit with the team. T-Frank explains what he sees from the prospect, while Snyder explains his unorthodox recruiting path so far.

Rojas and Robinson visit for key weekend

Next, finish the show by talking about Wednesday about Penn State’s latest prospect camp. Snyder was in attendance and discussed the players that stood out, including quarterback Malik Washington who earned a Penn State offer during the camp.

Lastly, they circle back to the most important visitors of the weekend, Rojas and Robinson. Snyder has discussed both players over the last several months but stressed just how important both players are and how important this weekend is.
