Penn State tweets of the day
It was quite fitting that Wednesday was the day that marked the transition from offseason to preseason, as the news cycle ramped up quickly with camp getting underway. The final day of July had highs and lows for the Nittany Lions. We’ll start with the good news. Penn State landed two commitments, one in the current cycle and one in the next one. The new Class of 2025 addition is Maryland three-star defensive lineman Yvan Kemajou. A 6-foot-3, 240-pound prospect, he picked the Lions over Virginia Tech and Rutgers. Then, in the Class of 2026, PSU landed a four-star edge, Daniel Jennings. A West Virginia native, he picked the Lions over the in-state Mountaineers.
On the bad news side of things, a pair of Penn State defenders, defensive end Jameial Lyons and lineabcker Kaveion Keys, are facing an “interim suspension” while “handling a personal matter,” according to a program spokesperson. It is unclear what the future holds for either as it relates to the 2024 season. That news broke after neither player was seen at the media viewing portion of Wednesday’s opening day of preseason camp. You can read a full recap of what we learned about the offense and defense below.

Quote of the day
“We all already know how great Penn State is football-wise, so I feel like that was one of the obvious reasons. But when I went there for my [official] visit, I really saw how much they cared about education and how much they stress being a true student-athlete. They make sure their players get a lot of support. I thought that was great.
“But also, later in the process, after I visited, they reached out a lot. They were always making sure my family had every question answered. They did everything they could to show that Penn State was the right school for me. I really appreciated the effort they showed.”
