Report: Allen Robinson set to be traded to Pittsburgh
Former Penn State great receiver Allen Robinson is on the move again. According to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, the Nittany Lion is set to play in Pittsburgh next season. No details have yet been confirmed by the Steelers regarding the trade from the Los Angeles Rams.
Additionally, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, Robinson is due for a physical. And, “if the Steelers are comfortable with the physical, Robinson is expected to land in Pittsburgh.”
The move would send Robinson to his fourth NFL franchise since finishing his Penn State career in 2013. Initially playing for four years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, his final campaign was cut short due to injury.
Rebounding following a trade to the Chicago Bears in 2018, Robinson was able to return to league prominence with back-to-back big years in 2019 and 2020. It was highlighted by his 1,250 yards and 102 receptions with six touchdowns in 2020. In his four seasons in Chicago, Robinson played in 57 games, reeling in 293 receptions for 3,561 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Robinson hasn’t managed the same numbers since.
Instead, he caught 38 passes for 410 yards in 2021 before a trade to the Rams last offseason. In LA, meanwhile, he notched just 33 receptions for 339 yards and three scores in 10 games played. He was a scratch for the season in late November with season-ending foot surgery, Rams’ coach Sean McVay describing the setback as “another tough loss” for the franchise.
Should Robinson make it to Pittsburgh, he’ll compete in his 10th season in the NFL.
Robinson’s 97 catches during the 2013 season remains a Penn State single-season record. He was a two-time First-Team All-Big ten selection in 2012 and 2013. He was also a two-time Richter-Howard Big Ten Receiver of the year the same two seasons.
