Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford‘s standout workout reputation continued Tuesday.
The Nittany Lions returned to the practice field with winter workouts for the first time since the Outback Bowl. And Clifford was among the individual players to earn commendation for his performance.
And, the nod came from the program’s new coordinator for strength and conditioning, Chuck Losey.
Per Losey’s Tweet, Clifford was among the session’s standouts:
“Shout out to (Sean Clifford) for his performance this morning during speed training,” the Tweet reads. “(Clifford Bros) app must be working. Great job, 14.”
(The reference to the Clifford Brothers app is one of multiple NIL ventures made by the veteran Penn State quarterback. A part of the Playbook App network, Clifford teamed up with his brother and fellow Nittany Lion, Liam, for a series of workout and instructional videos called “Clifford Bros Training.”)
Back for his sixth year, Clifford has long been credited by personnel for his holistic approach to the game.
“I think Sean does as good as any quarterback I’ve been around in college in terms of how to prepare, how to watch film, how he studies the game and studies defenses,” Penn State head coach James Franklin said upon Clifford’s announced return in December.

Last winter, Penn State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich cited Clifford three times as the individual performer of the day through the program’s formal workouts in January, February, and March leading into spring practices.
Penn State football’s other standout
Penn State football’s other recognized performer Tuesday during its winter workout speed session also emanated from the offensive side of the ball.
Tweeted by Jon Fleury, third-year running back Caziah Holmes deserved props for a “dominant effort and performance.”
The program will continue its offseason workouts in advance of the start of spring practices in March and, ultimately, the April 23 Blue-White Game at Beaver Stadium.
