STATE COLLEGE — Penn State football opened up another practice to reporters on Tuesday night. This week, our camera focused on new members of the roster. Our tour of the fields outside of the Lasch Building and Holuba Hall started with the offensive line. There, we caught a glimpse of mammoth 6-foot-6, 321-pound freshman offensive tackle Malachi Goodman, among others. Later, we saw everyone from the three transfers to freshmen Koby Howard and Matt Outten working out with the receivers.

Lions coach James Franklin talked about the team’s youngerpass catchers after last week’s practice.

“hen you look at that young class of Lyrick [Samuel] and Koby, Jeff Exinor is a big, physical guy who ran extremely well when he showed up, and Matt Outten,” he said. “So it’s a good group of young guys that we’re excited about, and I think a couple of them will end up playing this year, we’ll see. Koby has been the guy that I think has gotten a lot of buzz early on, but there’s been other guys that have stepped up, and I think have earned a ton of respect as well. So it’s going to be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out.”

To reiterate what we said above, the goal today was to focus on the newcomers. Thus, you won’t see the stars of the Lions roster below. But, you will see many transfers and freshmen.
