See Penn State defenders, newcomers, and special teamers in action at practice: Photos
Penn State players were flying around the practice fields outside of the Lasch Building on Wednesday night as the Nittany Lions opened preseason camp. Head coach James Franklin is presiding over his 10th camp in State College. At one end of the field, the defense worked on position-specific drills. At the other, the offense did the same. And in the middle, members of the special teams put in work with coordinator Stacy Collins.
Our first photo gallery from the 20-minute session gave you a closer look at the offense. You can see it here. Below, check out more images as we focus on the defense, special teams, and a few newcomers to the Penn State program.

Second-year defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is a stickler for details when it comes to his defenders making a play on the ball. This week’s drills saw them diving to knock down a soccer ball to work on deflections and also a drill focused on securing a loose ball the proper way.

We wrap things up with a look at a couple of Nittany Lion newcomers our camera caught, plus head coach James Franklin. He, of course, is not a newcomer.
