STATE COLLEGE — Penn State football did not let rainy conditions stop it from getting in another preseason practice on Saturday night. Hundreds of fans showed up at the outdoor fields between the Lasch Building and Holuba Hall and persevered along with the team as sunny skies turned to a rainy evening here.

The Nittany Lions started the drills with special teams work. Then they transitioned into stretching and individual drills. A lengthy scrimmage followed. Finally, some more special teams and position-speciifc work wrapped things up.

“I think there’s value in playing in Beaver Stadium,” head coach James Franklin said Thursday night following a different media availability.

“I also think there’s value playing in front of a crowd to see how some of these young players are going to respond to that. And then I just think it creates some excitement in the town and in the city and in the state, so I think there’s a lot of positives to it.”
